There’s a lot of freakin’ talk lately about attraction marketing, funded proposals, and the proper MLM Lead Generation you should be taking advantage of.

Well, all this is fantastic and you should pay attention to those but what do you do once you have people in your downline?

How do you manage them?

How do you train them?

How do you keep them working the biz?

Let’s dive right in and shed some light on what’s not talked about too much.

Number one, first thing, you better be attracting and sponsoring “qualified” individuals.

If you’re making the mistake of sponsoring broke minded, negative, complaining little whiners, change your ways IMMEDIATELY.

This will not give you the long term results you’re looking for and create stability.

Sure, you’ll make some quick money but this isn’t sales, we’re not dealing cars and cellphones.

This is network marketing.

You need to know and teach the proper ways of generating leads but you also need to teach the proper skills on what to say and do with those leads.

There’s many great resources out there and I suggest you invest into them right away.

Once you have qualified individuals in your business, you’re going to have to help them get their first few people.

Constantly invest in your education and get ahold of what’s working and APPLY it to your business.

This will make you a better leader and coach for your downline. You’ll be able to help them each step of the way and on the path to serious money.

They’ll have questions about how to do this and that so you’ll need to answer them and guide them in the proper direction.

You do that by investing in your education and sharing it with your team members.

The 3 big things you should be focused on teaching your downline is lead generation, mindset, and what to say and do.

Now, the bigger your downline grows, the harder it can be to maintain interaction with all your team members.

This is why you want to put some sort of system in place that keeps track of who you called, what you both accomplished on that call, and when you should call them next.

CRM software can get a little pricey which is why you can just use a sophisticated free calender application such as Google calendar, Mozilla Sunbird, or iCalendar Lite.

I personally would go with one of the latter two.

It’s best to keep in touch with your frontline members every couple days but it can be once a week depending on how well you have trained them, what they are applying, and the results they’re getting.

Always make sure to let them know that they can call you anytime if they need help with something.

You want to be looking at your business as a system and each member in your downline a part of that crucial system.

If one thing goes wrong, it disrupts the flow of the system and can result in lost money or aggravated, once a part of members that had trouble with online lead generation, and couldn’t get the support they needed, etc…

That’s why you want a structured team environment where everyone is able to communicate effectively and where people are not just passionate about what they do but give before want.

This creates more opportunities for everyone and keeps the whole shindig running as efficiently as possible.

Someone needs help, they can call up one of several people that have the answers to help them out.

This is what it takes to build a long term, stable business and as you can see it really doesn’t take a ton of brain power to execute.

It just takes some now how and when you generate leads, they get put through this process once and IF they are qualified to do business with and join.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Recruiting prospects into your network marketing business is easier said than done for most network marketers. Most people who start their MLM business are told by their uplines to just share the plan. They are told to make a list of everyone they know and begin by calling everyone on their list and either inviting them out to a business overview or to a conference call with their sponsor.

It doesn’t take long before the new recruit is asking themselves what do I do when I run out of people to talk to on my list?

This is the point where most sponsors will tell them to make sure to ask their list for referrals or to get creative and talk to anybody and everybody within 3 ft. of them.

After doing this for a while and facing massive rejection most quit, however a few will persevere.

The patient network marketer reluctantly turns to buying into lead programs and cold calling massive amounts of people all in the hopes of “sharing the plan” with opportunity seekers.

The major problem they have now is they just turned into another telemarketer and have destroyed the duplication factor in their business. You see, they might learn to get good at cold calling but it is almost impossible to duplicate this skill in their organization.

You have to give them credit for making it this far in their business though. By now they have persevered, faced massive rejection, and have grown mentally tough.

They have worked hard for months but they still don’t see any success in their downlines or in their bank accounts. They look around at their core leaders who are ‘supposedly’ having all this success and they ask themselves what is it that they are doing differently than me?

The missing ingredient for recruiting endless prospects online or offline are two major components. The first thing that all core leaders have is PROFESSIONALISM, next is a LEAD GENERATION SYSTEM.

All successful leaders display professionalism in their business. They know their company and products inside and out. They have a servant’s heart and know how to talk to people. They also know how to MOTIVATE people to take action.

Because of this people are attracted to them and join their team. Keep this in mind… People join professionals in this business. You have to spend the majority of your time early on in your business working on yourself. You can’t shortcut this, it is a must!!

Next, all successful leaders have a lead generation system. They don’t waste time talking to uninterested people. Their time is valuable and they know this. They see themselves as a valuable professional whereby people have to earn their time.

They know how to use technologies like the Internet, social networking, video marketing, article marketing, website marketing, etc. to attract endless amount of interested prospects to them. They also know how to enhance their business by creating multiple streams of income.

So in closing, the key is to develop your own professionalism and create value in the lives of your prospects and customers. Next, learn how to generate your own leads more effectively using technology. This will save you time and will create a state of lead abundance.

Whether you’re new to network marketing or you’re a veteran, I’m sure at one point your upline told you to purchase “MLM leads”. If you went through the process of purchasing some, I’m sure you know you can buy 5 cent leads or 5 dollar leads. So, what’s the difference? You can buy way more 5 cent leads than the 5 dollar ones, but is more always better? 
 
As with anything, there are two sides. If you’re brand new and have never called a “cold” lead in your life, do not start with the 5 dollar leads! You want to practice on the 5 cent leads! Once you get good and learns the “dos and don’ts” of cold calling, you can work your way up to the better, more expensive leads. (The more expensive the lead is, the more qualified the prospect).
 
A lot of people are now focusing on internet marketing and generating their own leads instead of buying them from a company who generates them. Since you will be paying the same amount for every lead, you want to focus on quality instead of quantity. It doesn’t matter if you get 300 people to enter their information into your site if nobody is interested in your opportunity.
 
So, how do you create quality (MLM Leads) online? One way is by telling them exactly the kind of person you’re seeking. You aren’t just looking for any yoo-hoo who wants to make money online.   You’re seeking somebody dedicated to creating a lifestyle for themselves. You want somebody who is willing to do whatever it takes to make money! This will disqualify a lot of people because the majority of people just want to turn on their computer and see money deposited into their account (and it just doesn’t work that way!).
 
So, when buying MLM leads, you want to make your purchase based on experience. If you require some practice, go for the cheaper ones, but if you’re REALLY good at closing sales, focus on the more expensive leads because you should (if the lead generation company is any good) be able to close more of these leads with much less effort and time. However, if you’re generating your own leads online, focus on QUALITY rather than quantity.   You will pay the same amount for each lead (depending on how you get them to your site…some will be free if you’re using the right methods!), so you don’t want everybody with a pulse to enter their information. 
 
Focus on both cold calling and generating leads online until you master one! Once you have one mastered (I suggest focusing on getting really good at online marketing because this is how you can leverage your time), spend your time there!

The chief reason for the survival of Multi-level marketing companies is the claim that there’s plenty of opportunity for the participants to make money. They claim that they can lead you to complete financial independence even if you start out by earning some extra part time money or MLM income.

The reason so many people are attracted to multi-level marketing companies is undoubtedly because of the fantastic returns they claim to offer. For instance they supposedly offer their consumers a viable part-time MLM income, or an extraordinary MLM income which is much greater than those offered by businesses or other professions. Ironically, this is the greatest defense of the companies when faced with charges of pyramid scheme fraud, manipulations and false promotions.

The question of legitimacy of this business affects the future and prospects of nearly 5 million new recruits in North America alone, and those of many more in several other countries of the world. The legitimacy is of course, based on the honesty or falsity of the MLM income claims.

According to a recent survey, 99% of all sales representatives each year among the companies surveyed earned less than $14 a week in rebate MLM income, before the deduction of business expenses, purchase of inventory and tax. On top of that, the MLM distributors had no average net income on the basis of door to door “retail” sales. Consequently, all the people who join these schemes end up suffering from a financial loss.

The MLM companies only disclose the number of active participants, and the MLM income figures for a period of one year or less. Thus nothing is known about the actual average incomes or the losses incurred by the new investors. In this way, they manage to hide the actual rates of failures. It’s shocking to note that, the failure rates would turn out to be even greater if all the participants over a period of 5 years were to be considered. It will then be obvious, that less than one in one thousand manage to make any profit, if at all.

The “apparent” successes in MLM are part of the same small group who are positioned every year at the top of the recruitment organization. Most of the participants suffer greater losses due to the strategies employed by these MLM companies, than because of competition or their personal endeavors. The cumulative loss of the people indicates a flow of money away from several million people in the USA to a handful of owners and recruiters.

Needless to say, this transfer of income is also responsible for damaging factors such as credit worthiness, degradation of communities, leading to general impoverishment. There being two categories of MLM income opportunity, namely, rebate income and retail sales income, it is the latter that gets greater publicity, where rebates, commissions and bonuses are paid out on the purchases by “downline” recruits.

The companies claim that this source has “unlimited potential” since payment can be obtained from an endless chain of recruits. All distributors are allowed to recruit others by MLMs, and qualified distributors are allowed to receive rebates on the purchases made by the multiple levels and ever increasing number of recruits.

Thus to conclude, not only is the generation of MLM income or profits a myth for most people, it is a downright loss for the majority of participants mainly because of the marketing and sales strategies employed by MLM companies in the first place.

So you just haven’t been able to make it in your home based business huh. Starting to think or hear all the stories about only the people at the top are making money and we’re only left feeling like bottom feeders. Then you have to hear a story about Simeon Cryer by MLM Magazine who who has only been around since 2002.

Thats right, its not an overnight success, but someone who has been in the business for five or six years owning a million dollar home looking out into the ocean is quite a feat in such a short time. MLM Magazine does a great job on letting you know two things within that type of statement alone.

Number one, it doesn’t happen overnight and number two, it can happen to you. Both important things to understand when you first get involved with any home based business and we have a feeling MLM Magazine knew that as well. The story is just as something any of us would tell.

Simeon got hit up by a friend the first time and according to the MLM Magazine interview, Cryer says he said no about 3 times before he actually took the plunge. This was not full time, and in fact, he had two other jobs already so wasn’t sure how he would have time for this home based business anyway.

Seemingly enough, he “took action” as he put it and made about three grand his first 3 months involved. Looking as though he was only working about 1-2 hours a day as MLM Magazine states in their interview. 13 months later he had earned double of what he was making with his 9-5s so you can only know what he did after that.

Then just as MLM Magazine proclaims in the beginning of the interview, he is living in a million dollar home and driving fancy cars. Besides all that, Cryer states he loves being able to spend so much time with his family. Sure, you would too, especially when it involves traveling, traveling, and more traveling.

In the Network Marketing arena, I have done a lot of things. From Software Development, Lead Generation and Sales, to building Uni-Level’s, Binaries, Public Speaking Engagements, E-Book Authoring, DVD Development and Sales, I’ve made well over a million dollars in NET profit over the last 8 years. But ALL this required a lot of work, Joint Venture dealings, etc. I decided after these profitable but challenging eight years that I only wanted residual income, from an established company who would make sure I would receive a check for decades, if not for life.

One of my Hallmarks was being listed, along with Jeff West on the front page of Six Figure Magazine in 2002. That’s when I knew the power of Network Marketing Magazines and how much impact they can have on ones business.

It’s a great story and one many people should hear when most of everything else their heads are filled with is negativity in the MLM industry. It does happen to anyone, but like Cryer says, “take action.” If you do we might see your name in MLM Magazine sometime soon as well. In 2006, Cryer was told he was in the top 100 MLM moneymakers in the world. Do you have the desire to make your dreams come true?

If you are starting right now in network marketing and you are planing to use the Internet for lead generation, trying to build your downline, there are some tools that are essential for doing so. Whether you like it or not when it comes to an online MLM business there are some expenses that are necessary if you really want to succeed. It’s not like marketing to your warm market that requires no money, but on the other hand who can succeed today in multilevel marketing by relying only to friends and relatives?

Of course, some might argue that there are many free solutions out there that someone can utilize for his online MLM marketing needs, but I have to disagree with this. Such free tools are of bad quality and many times they carry third party advertising that compete with your own business. Relying to them only to save a few dollars is a tactic that can harm your chances to succeed and drive away your prospects as you would seem unprofessional and rather an opportunist to them. Especially for the two most important tools choosing the free road is out of the question and we would see why.

But which are those 2 tools that a network marketer can’t do without?

They are Hosting and an Autoresponder

Hosting is necessary for having your own website on the Internet. You can’t be an online MLM marketer unless you have a site of your own so potential prospects can find about you and your business and learn some more things about you. It is also an irreplaceable tool for your lead generation needs as prospects have to come through your website first.

There are many companies that are offering website hosting at various prices covering all kind of needs, but what you should avoid is hosting your site at free platform. In a free platform you won’t be able to use your own domain name which is a great drawback. Having your own domain name, preferably a dot com, gives you more credibility in the eyes of your prospects. What are they going to think about you if you they see you in a free platform with a long and easy to forget url that they would provide you? Chances are they won’t get you very seriously, not you nor your online MLM home business. Such free solutions are only useful for building back links to your main site to help it in the search engine rankings but not for your main presence on the Internet.

Another drawback if you go the free road is that they have total control on your website and they can delete it from their servers at any time for whatever reason they want. It’s counter intuitive to start building something and put your time and effort into it only to see it vanishing one day for reasons beyond your control.

The second important tool that you can’t do without in online MLM marketing is the Autoresponder. It allows you to create and maintain e-mailing lists in order to keep in contact with your subscribers with the purpose to convert them eventually to customers or distributors to your online MLM business opportunity. They say someone needs to see your offer 7 to 12 times before he decides to join your multilevel marketing company or buy something from you. The autoresponder can help you to this by emailing your prospects with prewritten emails at intervals that you specify so they don’t forget about you.

In order to fill your autoresponder with prospects you need to put a capture form at your website so people can put their name and email to get further information from you. Sometimes you may need to give something in exchange such as a small report or an ebook on online MLM training that your prospects would see of value in order to increase the percentage of the visitors to your website that sign up.

Here there are also free solutions that you can use, but most of them use third party advertising at the top of the emails you send and the delivery rate is very low. So if you don’t want your subscribers in the seldom cases that your email would reach them to see a competitors ad and lose them forever, you have to pay for one.

As you can see you cannot enter the online MLM world without those tools as without them you simply don’t have any Internet business. Although they can put some burden to your budget, those expenses are necessary and they won’t cost you more than $30 to $50 per month depending on the plans you choose. Most autoships in many network marketing companies cost more than this so there is no excuse for you for not using them to build your business.
